[ CONCEPT / 06 ] HOME FOR VISITORSLEAD DESIGNER: PIXEL

COTTAGE FROM SPACE.

Polish folk. From orbit.

A home for a family of visitors who look like the neighbours next door, except they blink sideways. They crossed half the galaxy and fell for one thing: the Polish countryside. Thatched roof, Łowicz paper cut-outs, a tiled stove and a stork included. Furniture? Liquid silver only, because wood “doesn't reflect enough”.

[ BRIEF ]

They look like regular people. Almost. They blink sideways, shed their skin in July and never sweat at weddings. They came to rule the Earth, but after the first bowl of chicken soup the plan changed. They wanted a cottage like grandma's: thatch, paper cut-outs, a tiled stove, a bench under the window. One amendment: wood is “too matte, you can't see how good we look in it”.

[ HOW IT WENT ]

CASE STUDY.

01 / PARKING ON THE THATCH

The saucer parks over the roof, so the thatch had to survive anti-gravity thrust. Pixel tested three bundles of reed. Two landed at the neighbour's, the third in Częstochowa. The neighbour now comes over for pierogi, asks no questions and says “the new folks are very polite, just their tongues are a bit long”.

02 / THE SOFA THAT MOVES OUT

Liquid silver has one flaw: the sofa isn't where it was the night before. Once we found it in the henhouse. We approved every position in arkeeno with date and time, because the insurer would never believe it otherwise. The hens stopped laying, but they've never looked better in a reflection.

03 / THE STORK UNDER SURVEILLANCE

For two weeks the clients were sure the stork on the roof was a probe from a rival civilisation. Pixel prepared a memo, a drawing of the nest and a letter from the village head with an official stamp. The stamp convinced them most. The stork still feels watched. Rightly so.

[ PIXEL SAYS ]

“The clients are cold-blooded, so I set the underfloor heating the way I like it after a bath. They took to pierogi instantly, seconds included. Harder was explaining that the stork is not a scout and disco polo is not a signal from base. I'm sure about the stork.”
